The 13th Annual Jeff Buckley Tribute is scheduled to take place on November 16th and 17, 2010. The event will be held at Uncommon Ground’s Clark and Grace location. Artists have come from countries such as France, Italy, Denmark, Holland, Mexico, UK, Australia and many others in past years to perform at the tribute.
Yesterday, Sep. 29th, was the final day for Artist Submissions. We hope you all got your submissions in and we look forward to the full performance line-up, officially announced on Friday, October 15th. Reservations will be taken for 11-16 and 11-17 on Monday, October 18, 2010.
This event, which is supported by the Buckley family and featured on the official Jeff Buckley web site, sells out every year in less than 10 minutes for both nights’ performances. Jeff Buckley’s mother, Mary Guibert, has been known to fly in for this event on many occasions.
On a snowy night in February of 1994, Jeff Buckley played a legendary set at Uncommon Ground. This performance was lauded “Best Concert of the Year” by Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune, and was later recalled by Mr. Kot as one of the best concerts he’s ever attended.
Jeff Buckley was born in California’s Orange County in 1966 and died in a tragic drowning accident in Memphis on May 29, 1997. He had emerged in New York City’s avant-garde club scene in the 1990’s as one of the most remarkable musical artists of his generation, acclaimed by audiences, critics, and fellow musicians alike. For more information about Jeff, see the official website: www.jeffbuckley.com.
All net proceeds for the night will go to The Old Town School of Folk Music Scholarship Fund: http://www.oldtownschool.org

Pete Pidgeon’s lyrics and “acute songwriting prowess”, as stated by Relix Magazine, speak openly of perseverance and overcoming struggle – reflections of true life experiences – designed to uplift the listener as much as Pete’s own spirit. The Boston Metro writes, “Conviction, if not downright fervor, carries him far.” Former Jeff Buckley manager Jack Bookbinder agrees, and currently manages Pete after discovering his talent at the 2008 Jeff Buckley Tribute Concert in Manhattan, a performance Jack described as, “Amazing.” Jack feels “big things are in store” and recalls he was “struck by Pete’s jaw-dropping vocals and approach to artistry reminiscent of the Lower East Side’s Cafe Sin-e-era scene.”
Monthly appearances at legendary Manhattan venues The Living Room, Arlene’s Grocery and Rockwood Music Hall have proven Pete’s appeal in the tough NYC market. Pete’s “credibly original approach,” as stated by rock journalist Jesse Jarnow, has been touted by the Sony BMG and Tompkins Square labels, FOX Television, MTV, the Boston International Movie Festival and The Blue Man Group who hired Pete as a band member. Drummers Levon Helm (The Band), Nikki Glaspie (Beyoncé), Charles Haynes (Kanye West), Grammy-nominated Justin Foley (Killswitch Engage) and guitarist Nate Albert (Mighty Mighty Bosstones) have all recorded or played with Pete and as Doobie Brothers/ Vertical Horizon drummer Ed Toth once stated, “Overall, Pete, I think you have a lot of talent.”
Giving back to the community, Pete volunteers with addiction-addled teens at the New York City-based organization Road Recovery. Pete, now sober, proclaims, “Coming from a similar background, it is enriching to contribute in ways that improve the mental and physical health of so many through the medicine of music.”
Pete’s upcoming EP “Growing Pains” was recorded in June 2010 at the famed Sony Studios “A Room” in Nashville, with a rhythm section of bassist David Labruyere (John Mayer) and drummer Steve Brewster (Jewel). Grammy winning engineer Eric Gorman (Herbie Hancock) mixed it mid-September and the release event will be held at The Living Room in NYC on Sat, Oct 9th.
