
THE LAST GOODBYE,A MUSICAL ADAPTATION OF SHAKESPEARE’S ROMEO AND JULIET FEATURING THE SONGS OF ROCK ICON JEFF BUCKLEY,
WILL OPEN THE OLD GLOBE’S 2013-14 SEASON
SAN DIEGO (April 10, 2013)—The Old Globe will open its 2013-14 Season with The Last Goodbye, a new musical that marries Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and the incendiary songs of the legendary singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. Conceived and adapted by Michael Kimmel, the rock musical is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). Choreography is by Sonya Tayeh (“So You Think You Can Dance”), and orchestrations, music direction and arrangements are by Kris Kukul. The complete creative team and casting, as well as the remainder of the Globe’s new season, will be announced at a later date. The Last Goodbye will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Sept. 20 – Nov. 3, 2013. Preview performances run Sept. 20 – Oct. 5. Opening night is Sunday, Oct. 6. Tickets are currently available by subscription only. Two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers will stage a winter developmental lab of the new Jeff Buckley musical The Last Goodbye.
Michael Kimmel conceived and adapted the rock musical that takes a contemporary look at Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and sets it to the music and lyrics of late singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. Kimmel staged the original Williamstown production that also featured the work of Tayeh and Kukul.
Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher) will direct the Jan. 27-Feb. 15, 2013, lab of The Last Goodbye. It will have choreography by Sonya Tayeh and musical direction by Kris Kukul. Closed production, tickets are not available for this event.
Hal Luftig, Ruth and Steve Hendel, Alan and Barbara Marks, and Wade Turnbull are attached as producers.

LOS ANGELES (July 17, 2012) --- The Untitled Jeff Buckley biopic, is the true story about the beloved rising star musician who lost his life in 1997 at age 30. The film will be directed from a script written by Ryan Jaffe. The project is being produced by Michelle Sy and Orian Williams. Buckley’s mother Mary Guibert, is the executive producer on the film, Associate Producer Alison Raykovich (Jeff Buckley Music). Billy Hopkins is joining the production as casting director.
