[International News-UK Sunday Times] By Tommy Lane

A recent article in the UK Sunday Times reports Jeff Buckley is leading the Vinyl records sales comeback. LP Sales are reported to be up by 36%. One of the best selling LPs is Jeff Buckley’s Grace, which Sony reissued this year. It actually has outsold the CD for a couple of months at Tower Records in Dublin, Ireland.

The only other two artists are the same league in the new popularity of Vinyl LPs is Dylan and the Beatles. Which is very appropriate association for Jeff to be in. Looks like the 80’s Vinyl LP’s are coming back with Jeff leading the Pack.

NYC Century Bike Tour: Recap

“ROAD RECOVERY saved my kid…and now I’m trying to help save yours,” was Ed Aussem’s mantra for the past year as he passionately organized Road Recovery’s ‘Rock and Ride’.

Aussem, along with his fellow cycling buddies and Road Recovery supporters, formed Team Road Recovery as part of the New York City Century Bike Tour, riding up to 100 miles each, throughout New York City and its four boroughs.

The Road Recovery ‘Rock and Ride’ Team of 31 cyclists delivered on their commitment to ride all day, raising money and awareness for the New York based non-profit Road Recovery.

Thanks to all the riders who rallied for the Road Recovery cause! The sea of Road Recovery jerseys at the starting line at 6:18 AM really struck me… A dream come true.

It symbolized the support for a great organization from a group of friends and associates that was overwhelming. Times Square, The Brooklyn Bridge, Coney Island, The Triborough Bridge, Central Park-all in one sunny, beautiful day! I can’t wait until next year.

Keep those donations coming as we will keep the website open for another 2 weeks to ensure everyone who wants to contribute can.” – Ed Aussem, parent, ‘Rock & Ride’ organizer

“Road Recovery was conceived while riding a bicycle 12 years ago and to think years later an army of bike riders and sponsors such as Salon Botanique Eco-Chic and Marty’s Reliable Cycle would come together to tackle New York City’s streets for young people to have a chance at life, free from the grips of addiction, reaffirms the power of WE! Together, anything is possible and Ed Aussem ’s Rock and Ride proved that!”
– Gene Bowen, Road Recovery Founder & Former Jeff Buckley Tour Manager

ROAD RECOVERY is dedicated to helping young people battle addiction and other adversities by harnessing the influence of entertainment industry professionals who have confronted similar crises and now wish to share their experience and knowledge.

With support from the mental health field, ROAD RECOVERY provides hands-on mentorship training, educational/performance workshops, peer-support networking, and “all access” to real-life opportunities by collaborating with young people to create and present live-concert events.

Jeff Mentions From Around The World

WXPN, Philadelphia’s noncommercial Triple A radio station, kicked off its 885 Essential XPN Songs Countdown on Wednesday, October 15. Jeff Buckley landed in the 885 Essential with two songs in the Top !!! “Hallelujah” appeared at number 3 and “Last Goodbye” at number nine. WXPN listeners selected the songs from the tens of thousands of titles in the WXPN music library.

More than 3,000 people submitted lists of their top 10 favorite songs to XPN during a multi-media polling event, and XPN narrowed the list down to the top 885 songs. The full list is available online at: 885 quintessential XPN songs

To commemorate the countdown, the station created a “Dylanesque” music video that borrows from Subterranean Homesick Blues and features afternoon host Jim McGuinn along with program director Bruce Warren in a cameo. You can view the video on YouTube at the following link:

Alim Qasimov, revered as “One of the five best singers of all time”, was recently interviewed by the UK Times Online and mentioned Jeff: Says Qasimov, “He first came to wider notice in 1995, when he sang on Jeff Buckley’s Live à l’Olympia album.

“He asked me to,” says Qasimov, 51. “He had listened to my tapes and had something Arabic in his voice. So he would sing rock and I would reply with our music. He was very gifted and had a real feeling for Eastern people.”

You can view backstage and performance video of Jeff Buckley & Alim Qasimov at in the Peyote Radio Media Player. Read More Online at:

Earlier this Spring, Grace Sheehan organized an Official Jeff Buckley Tribute Night in Dublin, Ireland in the intimate venue The Village. Bands traveled from all corners of the country and from the UK to pay their respects through music to the great Jeff Buckley. For all of them he was a key influence in their discovery of music. We have some photos of the tribute available online at:
